ABOUT ALEJANDRA COLLECTIVE
Alejandra Collective is more than a sustainable luxury brand, it’s a celebration of culture, craftsmanship, and conscious design.
Founded by Alejandra Abondano, a Colombian-born designer based in Melbourne, the brand creates handbags, jewellery, and leather accessories that bring together Australian design and artisanal tradition.
Each piece is handcrafted in small batches using sustainable materials such as by-product leather, hypoallergenic 970 silver, and sustainably harvested palm straw.
What makes Alejandra Collective unique is its dedication to timeless style and meaningful craftsmanship. By working directly with artisan communities, every accessory carries a story supporting sustainable practices and keeping cultural heritage alive.
Alejandra’s vision is simple: to design accessories that inspire confidence, spark joy, and travel with you through life. Made to last and even to be passed down, each piece is functional, versatile, and imbued with a boho-chic spirit the perfect companion for everyday wear or your next adventure.
At Alejandra Collective, you’re not just wearing an accessory you’re carrying a piece of art, culture, and story that stays with you for years to come.

Meet The Founder
Alejandra Abondano is the creative force behind Alejandra Collective, a brand that embodies her passion for fashion, craftsmanship, and sustainability.
Born and raised in Bogotá, Colombia, her love for design began at a young age—selling jewellery at school, designing her own bags and clothes, and
shaping a style that fused indigenous traditions with modern fashion.
Her journey first took her into advertising in Bogotá, followed by a move to Australia to pursue an MBA in Marketing. With this blend of creativity and
business knowledge, Alejandra launched her brand, beginning with handcrafted mochila bags and silver jewellery. As her vision evolved, she expanded into
leather collections that harmonise traditional artisan techniques with contemporary boho-elegant design.
Alejandra’s connection to traditional craftsmanship deepened as she became aware of the challenges faced by artisan communities in Colombia. Many artisans,
particularly in rural areas, relied on their craft as their main source of income but often sold their work at unfairly low prices in local markets. Weather conditions,
such as heavy rains, further disrupted their ability to sustain their livelihoods.
One of the communities Alejandra Collective proudly works with is the Wayuu community, an indigenous group living in Colombia’s desert region. Known for their
intricate handwoven mochila bags, their artistry is world-renowned but often hindered by limited access to water, electricity, and employment opportunities. Driven by
a desire to make a positive impact, Alejandra partnered with non-profit organisations to help provide these communities with access to water, education, training,
and essential resources.
Through Alejandra Collective, Alejandra combines her heritage, creative vision, and commitment to sustainability, creating timeless pieces that celebrate artistry,
empower women, and uplift the communities who craft them.
